The Department of Pre-Clinical Disciplines was established in 2022. The core activity of the department is the development of students’ understanding of fundamental medical disciplines within the specialisation of the continuous integrated medical education bachelor’s programme. Teaching and learning activities include lectures, study guides, practical classes, group research projects, as well as community-based instruction and distance learning through Microsoft, Moodle, and other platforms. The educational process is carried out through research, laboratory, and methodological work during seminars, practical sessions, conferences, and academic debates.

The Department of Pre-Clinical Disciplines operates several laboratories in the fields of anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, histology, and pathology.

The goals of the Department of Pre-Clinical Disciplines include: the enhancement of research activities of students and faculty within the organisational, scientific, educational, and methodological framework of core medical educational programmes; and the development of new teaching and learning methods.

Staffing profile of the department for 2025–2026: total academic staff – 62 persons, of whom full-time academic staff – 39 persons, part-time (salaried) staff – 23 persons.

Head of the Department of Clinical Disciplines: Israilova V.K.

The Department of Clinical Disciplines is an academic, scientific, and administrative structural unit of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of International Business, established with the aim of training international students in one or more educational programmes in the field of Healthcare and Social Welfare.

The department trains full-time specialists and brings together the academic staff, educational support personnel, and various categories of students enrolled in educational programmes.

In its activities, the department is guided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of education and healthcare, orders and directives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the University Charter, decisions of the University Academic Council, the Educational-Methodological Council, orders and directives of the university administration, and other regulatory documents of an external and internal nature governing the activities of an educational institution.

The department maintains liaison with departments outside the faculty that provide assistance (support, services) in the implementation of the educational, methodological, and research activities of faculty and students.

The department is headed by a director who exercises overall management and is appointed and dismissed by order of the university rector.

The director reports directly to the dean. The functions, tasks, powers, and responsibilities of the director are governed by the relevant job description.

The primary objective of the department is the training of highly qualified specialists possessing professional knowledge, skills, and competencies in the designated field.

Functions of the department: Management and planning of the educational process. Development, coordination, and approval of work programmes for the respective specialisations. Development, coordination, and approval of individual curricula; ensuring that the academic staff adhere to the schedule of classes; organising the development, coordination, and approval of internship and placement programmes; establishing contacts with clinical facilities to build a database of placements and internships; ongoing monitoring of teaching quality; recording of examination and mid-term academic performance; educational and methodological work — ensuring teaching quality, implementing international standards in the educational process; academic supervision of research and development on current issues in the following areas; engaging practitioners and leading scholars in the educational process; building a talent pipeline of academic and teaching staff; preparing documents for licensing new educational programmes; preparing documents for obtaining international accreditations; implementing regulatory and methodological documentation, monitoring and analysing its application; introducing modern educational management methods using automated systems.

ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES OF THE UIB - FACULTY OF MEDICINE named after K. SAGADIEVA

The faculty of the department actively participated in the International Forum dedicated to the 85th anniversary of academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.A. Sagadiev, titled “Kazakhstan’s Development Trajectories in the Face of Global Challenges” on April 20-21, 2023, at the K. Sagadiev University of International Business. Associate Professor of the Department of General Education, M.B. Kudaibergenov, delivered a report titled “Spiritual Development of the Individual and a Healthy Lifestyle: Some Socio-Psychological Issues”; Associate Professors of the “Preclinical Disciplines” Department, Vikas Kumar and Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, presented on “The Role of Information Technology in Healthcare.”

On November 18, 2023, a roundtable discussion with international participation, titled “Development Trajectories of the Silver Economy,” was held by the faculty at the K. Sagadiev University of International Business. Participants included A.B. Sadykova, President of the National Medical Association of Doctors of the Republic of Kazakhstan; B.M. Kabylov, Chairman of the Veterans’ Council of the Almaly District of Almaty; S.S. Beketayeva, Director of the City Center for Active Longevity; A.Sh. Baisultanova, Chief Geriatric Physician of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; H.B. Bismildin, General Brand Manager of LLP MKK “VKE”; V.V. Chaykovska, Director of the Center for Continuing Professional Education of the Institute of Gerontology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine; and M.E. Mansurova, Head of the Department of “Artificial Intelligence and Big Data” at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. A decision was made based on the outcomes of the roundtable discussion.
