What is this?
The Sustainable Tourism program is designed for candidates who plan to build a career in the tourism industry and conduct research in the field of sustainable tourism development. The curriculum focuses on the study of tourism and recreational resources in Kazakhstan and around the world, as well as modern tourism technologies and the experience of their implementation in Kazakhstan. Sustainable tourism is not a type of vacation; it is a method of providing tourism services and managing tourism projects that ensure the well-being of four elements: tourists, business, the environment and the local population.
The Sustainable Tourism Education Program trains tourism professionals who have not only the knowledge but also the practical skills to create appropriate tourism products for tourists from all regions of Kazakhstan, as well as foreign tourists who wish to visit our country.
- Market research, forecasting of tourism business development trends;
- Research and analysis of competitors providing tour operator and travel agency services (marketing research);
- Tour operator and travel agency skills;
- Professional communication in at least two foreign languages;
- Conflict resolution (between service personnel, between service personnel and clients);
- Development of an internal HR management and quality improvement system;
- Design, creation and promotion of a competitive tourism product;
- Development and promotion of competitive excursion routes;
- Conducting tourism and recreational research of natural and cultural resources of Kazakhstan and the world;
- Promotion and sales of tourism products: advertising, participation in specialized exhibitions and fairs;
- Work with specialized booking programs, automation of travel offices, tour search systems, the
- Internet and multimedia technologies;
- Sales technologies and psychology;
- Apply knowledge gained from general and professional disciplines in one’s work to gain a systemic understanding and improve the effectiveness of managerial actions, as well as to form effective management skills;
- Planning, organizing and evaluating the financial performance of tourism enterprises;
- Managing a tourism company, including during times of uncertainty and crisis and effectively organizing the work of employees; Establishing effective communication with relevant industry specialists when making management decisions.
